Jumpsuits are ideal if you’re looking to make a bold fashion statement, but finding the right one can be difficult. If you’re shopping online, remember that jumpsuits come in different sizes and styles, so look for photos of people wearing the type of jumpsuit you want to buy, so you can assess the fit and color more accurately. When shopping in person, keep these tips in mind as you navigate the jumpsuit selection at your favorite store:
1. Measurements and Fit
If you have trouble finding the right fit without trying it on, look for measurements. The measurement may be listed in inches or centimeters. Keep in mind that if you are buying a jumpsuit online, the measurements will probably not be listed. Jumpsuits should fit snugly, but not too tight or too loose. If it is too loose, you won’t feel any support when doing your favorite exercise; if it is too tight, the garment will constrict your movements and cause back pain.
2. Color
When purchasing a jumpsuit online, consider what color looks best on you. Enter your desired color into the search engine and see what other people have come up with. Of course, if the jumpsuit you want is at a physical store you have to try it on. You should also pick an outfit that complements your skin tone and hair color because this will help to make the outfit look better.
3. Fabric
Try different fabrics in your search for the perfect jumpsuit for your body type. A silk material will be very comfortable, but will make you feel weightier than a nylon material would, which can wear down over time. Cotton is usually comfortable as well as durable.
4. Pattern
Choose the right jumpsuit pattern based on what outfit you are going to pair it with. For example, a solid black jumpsuit paired with a white shirt will look great, but a solid black jumpsuit paired with a red shirt will make you look completely contrasting against the background and not very stylish at all.
5. Color blocking or pattern blocking
Find things that match in your jumpsuit; if you wear red shoes then wear your red jumpsuit and don’t choose one that has an overabundance of white in it (like the one below).
6. Pockets
The main purpose of a jumpsuit is to make things as convenient as possible, so if you want pockets get a jumpsuit that has them and then fill them with your essentials. Check the size of the pockets first so they can hold your items while you’re exercising. If you want you can also sew on extra pockets if your jumpsuit doesn’t have them or if they don’t hold the right amount of items for your desired jump routine.
It’s also helpful to have some key storage on the outside of your clothing because it allows you to carry all of your keys, ID card, phone and/or wallet at once.
